Steroid Profile

Boldenone is an oil-based injectable veterinary steroid with an undecylenate ester attached to it. It is a synthetic variation of testosterone, the first ever created. Initially it was used by race horse trainers for its performance boosting effects and also to aide recovery. Although Boldenone is a veterinary steroid, its performance-enhancing effects on humans is phenomenal, and it eventually found favor with bodybuilders some 20-25 years after its invention. 8x Mr Olympia Lee Haney famously made it a staple of his contest preparation cycle.

When looking at the molecular composition of this substance, it could easily be described as a “mellow” variant of testosterone, albeit with a few unique traits of its own. This is due to the fact that it is based on the testosterone “blueprint” – where the changes come in, they are firstly at the carbon one and two position of the hormone whereas a double bond has been attached (as illustrated here.)

What this double bond serves to do is significantly reduce both the androgenic and estrogenic nature respectively of the original testosterone hormone. This is of enormous benefit in regards to the risk of adverse issues taking place as the user’s risk will be relatively low to say the least (you can see an extensive list of possible side effects relating to an excessive androgen / estrogen count here.)

Boldenone’s anabolic/androgenic ratio of 100:50 puts it on a par with testosterone as far as anabolic strength while remaining only half as androgenic. Therefore, it aromatizes at approx. 50% the rate of testosterone, which makes it seem like a fairly estrogenic compound. However, this isn’t the case and estrogenic side effects are usually not pronounced (unless large doses of 200-400mg are used). This is possibly because one of Boldenone’s metabolites is actually an anti-aromatase inhibitor (1,4 dienedone).
